Laurent Doussot was born in France and now lives in Québec, Canada.
In 1990 while studying Fine Arts, he discovers the world of Custom Knives. If he is passionate for sculpture and mold making, it is in knife making that he is fully realizing himself.
Since 1992 he is creating a blend between his work in sculpture and his knife making.
While knives are still utility objects to his eyes, the knife takes a unique and sculptural aspect inspired by an imaginary and timeless world. In fact this is a real sci-fi universe, a deserted world after an ecological cataclysm, with the predomination of mutated insects on rare humans desperately looking for fresh water. For those survivors, insects scales has become essential for the fabrication of furniture, armors and weapons, in a baroque combination of metal and chitin.
Laurent Doussot imagines and realizes knives originating from this fantasy world, his way of carving suggest organics forms, insects scales, shells….
He gladly share with you his wild imagination and his love for beautiful objects with the knives he is creating.
